Keeping It Real With Sustainable Style

Keeping It Real With Sustainable Style

When it comes to fur fashion, there are plenty of misconceptions. It is more than just a luxury product, it is also a highly regulated and sustainable industry. In today's day and age we are hearing so much about how to live a sustainable life: not using plastic straws, bringing re-usable grocery bags to the store, opting for a refillable water bottle. The common trend here is to cut down on plastic.

Faux fur is made with plastic. Without natural materials like fur, shearling and leather, the fashion industry will turn to synthetic fibers like polyester and acrylic alternatives. The increase in these materials can have disastrous results for the environment. Did you know that 60% of all clothing produced is either incinerated or winds up in landfills within 12 months? This is a result of the fast fashion industry. Real fur lasts for generations.

We have plenty of clients coming in with their great grandmother's fur coat, wanting it restyled and modernized. There are not many materials you can do this with. We also up-cycle a lot of our furs. Every scrap is used for something and never goes to waste. We are constantly finding new ways to use and re-use fur!

By turning away from sustainable materials and brands, we are turning our backs on the environment that needs us more than ever right now. Let's cut down on fashion waste and stick to shopping smart and shopping sustainable.
