Our Wedding: You May Now Kiss The Boss

Our Wedding: You May Now Kiss The Boss

I am going to take you through all of the details, from the invitation, to the vibe, and everything in between.

I met Richard on a whim. We spoke via Bumble, and then met up for the best first date ever. We ate french fries and took a walk along the Hudson. We had an instant connection.

We got engaged in December and planned our wedding for June. We didn’t want to wait.

You all know by now that I’m not traditional, so my wedding wasn’t any different. I wanted the authenticity and vibe to shine through every detail, starting with the invitations. It was written in my language. No RSVP, no names, not even a mention of a wedding. Just our initials, time and location. Our people knew exactly what it was when they got the invites and it absolutely set the tone of our wedding. A relaxed party vibe.

We chose to have our wedding at our home. We wanted it to just feel like the most fun family party ever and be a celebration for our family, children and closest friends. It was on a bright, sunny, hot day in June, but the decor was dark and moody and almost gothic. The contrast was fantastic.

My wedding planner Aimee from The Perfect Shindig was wonderful. She is super organized, knows her game and was super supportive of my vision. She let me express what I wanted and then gave me her edit. I highly recommend her!

One of my favorite moments of the day was before the ceremony when we had all of our kids taking photos in our bedroom with us. We were laughing everyone was so happy and excited with anticipation.

As expected, tradition went out the window when it came to our ceremony. Our wedding party consisted only of our blended family. As for our officiant, my good friend Deanne married us. She made us laugh, cry and included our children in such a beautiful way. She spoke about how our marriage is a joining of 4 families and how special that is. She had our kids read our vows to us, which was so special.

I was so lucky to have the design team at Oscar de la Renta dress me for the wedding. My dress, veil and shoes were all Oscar. The custom dress and veil were hand embroidered with flowers. The details were impeccable. I absolutely loved my veil; it was super dramatic and totally stole the show.

Our menu was to die for. The reception was catered by dear friend and amazing chef, Jason Unger. At cocktail hour we had servers passing appetizers like French Onion Grilled Cheese, Tuna Tartar, Black Bean Quesadillas and more. We also had a pizza truck from Portenza, which served incredible brick oven pizzas. Our entree menu was rustic chic and hd delicious dishes like Chicken and Waffles, Steak, Salmon, etc. For dessert we had nutella pizza, cake and we also had 321chillz serve liquor-infused ice cream.

The music was key when it came to cultivating that perfect party vibe. We hired Evolution, an amazing hybrid DJ & band. They made an incredible impact on the evening. The dance floor was never dull or empty, we truly partied the entire time with our whole family.

The wedding was absolutely perfect and totally us. It was a true celebration of our love for each other, but especially our family.
